Thanksgiving with Just Dance 4 – Review #CleverJD4

Thank you to Ubisoft for sponsoring this post. Please click here to learn more about Ubisoft. I was selected for this game review opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective. All thoughts and opinions are my own. #UbiChamps

My kids were so excited when Just Dance 4, the newest edition of the world’s #1 selling dance game brand, was released recently. We own several of the Just Dance games including the ABBA You Can Dance edition and we love playing them together as a family. Look at Annie and Jackson dancing together!

As a parent, I feel good about letting my kids play this video game because they are getting exercise (and I can actually participate as well!) My kids and their friends love it because it has more than 40 songs they can select from including tons of current hits like What Makes You Beautiful, Call Me Maybe and Moves Like Jagger. (Personally, I love the classics like Stevie Wonder’s Superstitions and the B52’s!)

Unique to the game for the XBOX 360 Kinect, is the “Just Dance TV” feature which allows players to watch and share photos and videos of themselves dancing after their song is complete. Annie LOVES this part and might even have more fun looking through photos/videos of herself being silly then she did actually making them!

One feature of the XBOX 360 game version that we struggled with but UbiSoft has since fixed after receiving a lot of feedback from game reviewers like myself was the song and and menu navigation. It was hard for the kids to select them with the Kinect motion sensor. Now, Kinect game owners can use the XBOX controller which is easy-peasy. I think it’s fabulous that UbiSoft responded so quickly. It was the only draw back of the game and now it’s a non-issue!

What a great company!

And a great game. I really have been so impressed with the entire Just Dance game series and #4 doesn’t disappoint. Since my weight loss journey started in July (I’ve lost 42 pounds so far…whoot!) I’m always looking for things that we can do together as a family that supports a healthy lifestyle. We ride bikes, play in the park, go on walks and have even signed up to do a 5K together soon!

Just Dance 4 is a great indoor activity that we can play day or night, no matter what the weather is like outside. We’ve had a great time getting silly and trying to out move each other. Jackson had a blast yesterday celebrating the end of school before the Thanksgiving holidays with his friends.

I’m cooking Thanksgiving dinner this year and after the dishes are cleared and dinner has settled, I plan to pull out Just Dance 4 so I can burn off those extra calories. In “Just Sweat It Out” mode with new workout sessions, Just Dance 4 offers me a personalized workout program, live feedback and real calorie counters.

So take THAT pumpkin pie! (And jello mold. And mashed potatoes with gravy. And rolls with honey butter. And….)

Just Dance 4 can be purchased at for $39.96 for the Nintendo Wii, Playstation and XBOX 360.

What do you think about Just Dance 4? What kinds of video games will be under your tree this year or will you be playing with your kids during the holiday break?
