Take An Adventure Every Month With The California Wine Club

I love to enjoy a great glass of wine with a meal or when out with friends; however, I tend to stick with a brand of wine I’m familiar with unless a different one is recommended to me by someone I know. Since I’m hesitant to step out of my “wine comfort zone,” I was thrilled to hear about The California Wine Club.

Since 1990, California Wine Club owners Bruce and Pam Boring have traveled in search of limited-production wines from small, family-owned wineries. When they add a winery and variety of wine to their club, it’s like a friend suggesting a great, award-winning bottle to try. They’ve done all the legwork and as a member, I get to enjoy the fruits of their labor!!

They offer four different wine clubs to join:

  1. The Premier Club – Their most popular club which includes two bottles of wine a month and a 12-page issue of the publication, Uncorked, which contains information about the wine, tasting notes, recipes and interviews. This club costs $49.95 per month plus shipping and handling.
  2. The Signature Series – For collectors and connoisseurs  which includes two to four bottles and runs from $150 to $275.
  3. International Selections – Members receive two bottles from small, boutique “mom & pop” wineries around the world. Membership costs $65 to $80 a month.
  4. Aged Cabernet Series – Members receive two bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa’s most prestigious wineries aged eight to 12 years. This level costs from $150 to $235 a month.
When I received my first shipment this month, I was treated to a bottle of 2009 Seven Brothers Napa Valley Tempranillo and a 2008 Seven Brothers Lake Country Sauvignon Blanc…both by The Robledo Family Winery.
I took the bottle of Tempranillo with me to my friend’s house for our post-5K celebration.
We loved this wine!
It had a great oak/spicy taste with a rich finish. It was neat to be able to introduce a unique wine to my friends, one I never would have tried had I not received it from the Wine Club.
I enjoyed the bottle of Sauvignon Blanc at home with dinner over the course of a couple evenings. Since my husband and I are watching what we eat, it paired perfectly with our fish and salad meals.
I’m loving the Robledo Family Winery, located in the Sonoma region, now that I’ve had the chance to try two of their selections. In Uncorked, I read about the company’s history and vineyard and got Maria’s own recipe for Mole (founder Reynado Robledo’s wife).
I can’t wait to find out and share with you what wine selection I receive in December! There will also be a special giveaway next month for a lucky Still Living The Dream reader/wine lover, so be sure to check it out soon!
In the meantime, visit The California Wine Club online at www.cawineclub.com to find out more about how to become a member… a great treat for yourself or to give as a gift.
