I love Christmas.
I actually love the entire fall/winter season. The period between Halloween and New Years Day is my absolute favorite time of the year.
But it always goes by too quickly!
And if I’m not careful, I let holiday preparations (sending out Christmas cards, shopping for gifts, meal planning and food preparation, etc.) take over and I miss out on the actual joy of the holiday season itself.
Which is why we always try to do something special together as a family each December. Ideally, we try to get away from home because of all the “stuff” that always seems to need to be done. I step away from my Christmas lists and trying to figure out the perfect gift for everyone. I leave the stack of cards to be addressed on the dining room table and we go out to spend time together as a family.
This year we are going to the beautiful Westin La Cantera Hill Country Resort for their annual “Hill Country Holidays,” event – a unique holiday winter wonderland program that runs from November 22, 2012 through January 6, 2013. Outdoor ice skating in Texas! How AWESOME is that!!
As a life long Texan, ice skating was only something I did as a super awesome treat inside the Galleria. An outdoor ice skating rink in Texas is an ubber special event and one we’d love to see in person at the gorgeous Westin La Cantera Hill Country Resort!

Well seeings how we live in south-central Texas, my kids would enjoy the ice skating since we next to never see snow. Rather enough snow to do much, little less ice skate.
After thanksgiving with all my in -laws… a getaway weekend at such a fabulous resort would be a perfect “holiday miracle “.
