You’re Never Too Old for A Teddy Bear

One of my close friends has breast cancer. She has a little boy the same age as my daughter and we’ve gotten to know each other through their activities such as gymnastics, soccer and t-ball. I’ve come to love her and her family dearly and have watched her fight this diagnosis like a warrior. Wearing purple wigs and a “bring it” attitude, she is now in the last phase of her treatment…radiation. I am so proud of her and so happy that she has beaten this and by the end of this summer we will be celebrating like you wouldn’t believe.

We all know that treatment, which also included chemo and surgery, has been hard at times for her and when my five-year-old daughter and I were recently given a teddy bear to review for Still Living The Dream…I was surprised and overwhelmed when she said, “Let’s give him to Ms. Stephanie.” She thought since he is so soft and beautiful, that he would be good for her to hug when she goes to the hospital.

I know…my heart stopped too. Insert proud-parenting moment here!

So we delivered him to her house and together they named him Jackson. (Annie said she loves that name. I wonder if it has to do with the fact that it’s her brother’s name and despite the unbelievable amount of fighting they do…she loves him, too.)

Stephanie said Jackson is so soft and beautiful and white and fluffy. He’ll be fun to hug, for sure. (I think Annie’s pretty hugable, too!!)

If you know of someone who could use a teddy bear to hug (no matter how young or old they are!), check out Huggable Teddy Bears. We gave Stephanie The Super Soft Big Brighton, but they have tons of bears for every occasion to choose from including Get well teddy bears, Graduation Gift teddy bears, Romantic Gifts and Birthday Gifts.

Disclaimer: Annie and I were given a teddy bear to review (but as I mentioned, these bears are meant for giving to bring joy to others so we gave ours away!) We received no other compensation and all thoughts and opinions are ours!
