Review: Yanni’s Recent Instrumental Release – Truth of Touch

Through my affiliation with One2One Network I was recently given the opportunity to download Yanni’s first instrumental release of original compositions in over eight years, Yanni Truth of Touch. I really enjoyed his album, a return to the genre he helped create and advance, and I wanted to share what I thought with you!
Since I work from home and only have myself to answer to in the “office”, I can play any music I like (and as loud as I like!) so I recently played the entire album while I was typing away at a project deadline. This music is perfect to work to, as it is upbeat and enthusiastic without being disruptive or distracting. Each recording seemed to flow into the next, yet each was a bit different. Truth of Touch was playful while Echo of a Dream was more New Agey sounding and Can’t Wait, O Luce Che Brilla Neil and Secret also included vocals.

“I work the rhythms in this album,” explains Yanni about the new material. “There is a beautiful complexity in these rhythms, a new sound design. I think the melodic content is very strong and very memorable. I was having fun with this album and that’s going to become apparent.”

I think this will be a go to album to play while hosting a dinner party or while the kids do homework. It’s not a meditative C.D. Some tunes, like Yanni & Arturo, almost made me want to dance a little! Yet, it’s relaxing. And that’s a perfect combination to a stressful day filled with taking kids back and forth to sporting events, working, cleaning the house and (gasp) getting some things done for myself!

On March 22, Yanni launched a 40-date tour of the US. The tour will take him through theaters in major cities across the US including Radio City Music Hall in NYC and the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles and he’ll be in Houston on May 19, 2011! For a complete listing of cities and dates, check out http://yanni.com/tour/.

To hear some of the album, visit his website at http://www.yanni.com/. And the good news is…Yanni Truth of Touch is already out in the stores so you love it, you can get it immediately!

I was not compensated for this review. The music (in downloadable form) was provided to me by One2One Network for review purposes. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
