I Like to Say SAL-SA! (A Salsa Sensation Review)

Ok, if you aren’t a Seinfeld Fan, you didn’t chuckle to yourself when you read the title to this post. But as much as I like to SAY Sal-sa…I like to EAT Sal-sa even more. I recently had a chance to taste test a new brand called Salsa Sensations (just hit the stores in September 2010) and it was pretty durn good.

Salsa Sensations offers three different products: mild, medium and hot. You can get them all at Wal-Mart in the refrigerated section. (In my Wal-mart they were by the sour cream).

My husband likes hot food and he thought the hot Salsa Sensations variety was really hot. I don’t like really hot food (or scary movies) so I didn’t try this one. He liked it though…made ’em sweat! I tried the medium and mild (as did my kids). The medium had a nice kick to it – one that I could handle…but I’m partial to a more mild variety.

Here’s some Salsa Sensations on an after-school snack. Cheese and black beans wrapped in a tortilla with salsa on top. Yum!

For dinner I made a chicken recipe from an old Southern Living Cookbook. It was pretty good (covered in tortilla chip pieces and baked then I topped it with mango) and topped perfectly with Salsa Sensations. We liked that this salsa was chopped pretty finely (no big ol chunks) and had a pico kind of taste to it. Tasted a little fresher then those found on the shelves, too. And here’s the best part…the price. Each costs only $1.98.

Here’s the scoop on Salsa Sensations:

  • Contains only 10 calories per 2 tbsp serving
  • Fat-free & cholesterol-free product
  • So fresh it needs refrigeration- you won’t find it in the standard salsa & chips isle
  • Made with sun-ripened tomatoes, chopped onions, garlic, cilantro and jalapeno (habaneros are in the hot!)
I recommend Salsa Sensations. And I live in Texas. So that says something! Luckily, Salsa Sensations is available in 48 states – check the closest store that carries it to you here – so even if you’re not down south, you can still enjoy it!
